When exercise is medicine, specificity is essential
Contrary to intuition, scoliosis rehabilitation is NOT just bending the spine to the other side. It is a scientific, methodical persuasion to encourage the spine to adapt a more physiological alignment.
To design an optimal scoliosis exercise program, individual consideration is a must as every patient’s curvature (degree, rotation, tilt, etc) is different. Specific, consistent practice is needed to change postural habits to remap physical perception in the brain, in order to produce lasting changes.
We incorporate these findings in exercise design to help improve function and appearance, and avoid surgery where possible:
- Detailed X-ray and medical imaging analysis;
- Comprehensive functional assessment and evaluation and
- Validated questionnaire(s) to measure the impact of scoliosis, and
We will schedule an appointment (included) with you to go over the findings and recommended exercise programs with you.
